Apache & Commanche Avenues Improvement

In North East Osino by the Adobe Mountains of Nevada, there are several hundred residents.
Most of the community has been there for generations, and settled in the area when Elko County first made the bladed dirt roads to encourage development of homesteads, and it did.  Unfortunately, as time went on the County could not maintain these roads, and so it has been left to the residents to fill in gaps with gravel as best they could at a more costly personal expense every time.
To make matters worse the heavy rains and winds have caused sink holes as big as twenty feet in diameter and ruts in the roads due to the washes formed and the insufficient drainage.

So now when the residents add expensive gravel to these road gaps, the gravel easily sinks back down within the month, but the machinery and materials needed to build up the roads properly is not affordable.
There are many times that emergency workers have struggled to reach residents homes and these delays have caused tragedies.
Even regular garbage pick up is not able to reach many of the residents.
During rainy season and snowy winter, vehicles acquire much damage and accidents occur where vehicles slide off the road and or are stuck deep in ditches and require major towing.
The main roads of Apache and Commanche Avenues are the most dangerously damaged, and if we can have these roads built up to standards it would make a world of difference in the quality of life of our residents.

 Our Mission

is Short and Sweet

Apache and Commanche Avenues Improvement is a non-profit that seeks to improve and ensure safer portions of these Avenues for the residents that live off these two main County dirt roads of North East Osino, in Elko County, Nevada by providing a means to have the area from Victory Boulevard along Apache Avenue to Indian Hills Drive, and Commanche Avenue from Indian Hills Drive to Jack Stone Creek Road developed with concrete and or asphalt.
After years of asking for help from the County, and constant efforts to fill sink holes to patch these two roadways, the Elko Superintendent urged us to start a nonprofit to be able to apply for grants and hire a road construction group to tackle the problem.
We were told that once this was accomplished, the County will provide the permits at no additional cost, as long as we submit the plans up to the required standards.
To that end, we have been contacting an engineer who will provide the needed drawings, as well as several road construction companies to provide estimates on the costs for the project.
The damaged areas of both Avenues comprise 1.6 miles of road of 20 feet of width.  They run from Victory Blvd. (off of Exit 310 of I-80) on Apache Avenue to Indian Hills Drive and then continuing on Commanche Avenue from Indian Hills Drive to Jackstone Creek Road.
All contributions to our nonprofit will go 100% entirely towards the plans and construction of these roadways.
Every member of our board is on a voluntary pro-bono basis with hopes to expedite completion of this project.
